Intervolve Education Fund

At the end of 2008, Intervolve established a special Education Fund which offers opportunities to school youth in the cities in which we implement our projects.

The Intervolve approach is not only to build houses, but we also aim for economic development, good health and social cohesion. That is why Intervolve gives training to the often unemployed and still young inhabitants and enable them to find a job. By doing this we assume that these people do have some sort of basic education.

However, we are more and more confronted with the fact that in the areas we work in many children cannot go to school. Their parents cannot afford the school fees, books and/or uniforms. Intervolve believes that primary education is important as a basis for further trainings in our project. That is why on 14 October 2008 during our annual meeting the Intervolve Education Fund was established.

2009

In 2009 we supported the Sopom School Excellency Programme in Cameroon. 72 pupils of three schools in Sopom area were extra rewarded. The first reward was the good grades they got because of performing well in school. And based on these good grades the Intervolve Education Fund gave them a second reward: school books, uniforms and sports gear. The idea is to stimulate well performing pupils whose parents are in a relatively difficult economic situation to continue doing their best in school.

2010

This year not only well performing pupils get an extra stimulus, but the school boards and parents indicated they want to teach their pupils to work with a computer. They quoted the adage: ‘Tomorrow’s illiterate is one who cannot use a computer.’ We support this wholeheartedly. The three schools each receive three computers. After summer holidays they will start working with them.
