Intervolve plans

Improved living environment, reduced poverty
Intervolve has been working to improve the socio-economic position of deprived people since 1996. Within this broad field, Intervolve focuses on improving the living environment and reducing poverty levels of people living in the urban areas in developing countries. Since its establishment, Intervolve has been active in South Africa, and later expanded its scope to include activities in other African countries (Ethiopia, Cameroon and Nigeria) in collaboration with co-funding organisation Cordaid.

This process of expansion requires the continuous monitoring of opportunities and threats in order to steer the organisation’s ambitions and responsibilities. Intervolve regards itself as an organisation with the capacity to continually learn and develop. Internal improvement trajectories ensure activities are developed and implemented with greater effect and efficiency.

Trajectories for improvement until 2010
In order to respond optimally to trends and developments in the field, Intervolve outlined a number of necessary improvement drives in 2006. These are focused on reinforcing the organisation’s internal structure and procedures, solidifying existing knowledge and capacity, and exploring new markets.
The multi-annual programme for the period 2008 - 2010 is a further elaboration and continuation of this improvement drive. It outlines the manner in which Intervolve will seek to develop into a sustainable organisation over the coming years. It is a conservatively ambitious and concrete policy.

Innovation
Over the coming years, the Intervolve Foundation will apply a more active ‘breeding ground’ policy. The development of innovative methods and techniques that can contribute to the quality and sustainability of our products will be further prioritised. This will require a creative approach by both the organisation and its employees.

In order to realise innovation, collaborations will have to be initiated with other parties dedicated to the same objectives as Intervolve such as educational institutions, NGOs and private sector parties. Also of importance is to seek collaboration with partners which can add to the improvement of quality of our activities.
